In short the 2080-LC50 and 2080-LC70 series is being replaced by the 2080-L50E and the 2080-L70E controllers, since these are still in production it will be awhile before they are use up and everyone will need to make the switch, if you can only find the LCxx in stock and not the LxxE I would not worry about it as most of the functions will be the same, see the RA notes below on the changes, the main change is you will need V21.011 or later for the L70E and L50E
EXAMPLES:
OLD P/N NEW P/N
2080-LC50-24QWB ~ 2080-L50E-24QWB
2080-LC70-24QWB ~ 2080-L70E-24QWB
Both 2080-L50E Micro850 and 2080-L70E Micro870 controllers, comparing to 2080-LC50 and 2080-LC70, provide additional, following capabilities and communication functions:
- The expansion of DF1 Protocol in these controllers, now includes support for:
- DF1 Half-Duplex
- Radio Modem
- With firmware revision 21.011 or later, controllers support Kinetix 5100, PowerFlex 520-series drives and Generic Device for all other EtherNet/IP devices that are connected using a Class 1 EtherNet/IP connection with predefined instruction tags
- 2080-L70E-24QBBN and 2080-L70E-24QWBN controllers support DNP3 Protocol, which provides greater security features with Secure Authentication version 5
- The Enhanced Password algorithm to increase the password encryption is applied
Note:
- Both 2080-L50E and 2080-L70E controllers are supported starting from Connected Components Workbench (CCW) software version 20 upwards
- 2080-L50E family could be treated as direct replacement of 2080-LC50, similarly the 2080-L70E is the direct replacement of 2080-LC70.
